Week 40 Review: Otherworld Secrets

From Goodreads:
For fans of Kelley Armstrong's beloved, bestselling series, an exciting collection of novellas and stories, both original and chosen by the author, featuring her Otherworld characters in heart-stopping, pulse-racing action.

Globe and Mail and New York Times bestselling author Kelley Armstrong captivated readers with her thirteen-novel Women of the Otherworld series of supernatural thrillers. Though the series is over, her characters live on, not only for her fans but for Kelley herself. In this new collection of deeply enjoyable, compulsively readable novellas and short stories, she throws her wonderful characters deep into tricky situations that test not only their ability to safely navigate danger but also their relationships with each other.

On top of these treats, she also offers her readers a terrific, brand-new novella featuring Karl and Hope, on what just may be Karl's last heist.

My Review:
Yeah, it was so great to read this collection of stories! I mean, I did read these out of order, but I hadn't realised I hadn't read this one when I read Otherworld Chills! A lot of these stories, I couldn't find elsewhere, so yeah to read them for the first time, but especially, the new Karl and Hope story!

My one complaint, is that I wish they'd been chronological. The new story set sometime after 13 was first, and the last story was from before Waking the Witch, if not more. It meant a bit of mental organization of what had happened and what hadn't yet, more than if it'd been in chronological order. Ah, well!

All the couples (or at least one half of the couple, in the case of The Ungrateful Dead and Jaime) besides Savannah and Adam were featured in this collection. That's one thing that I love about this series-there's more than one narrator in the series, but not a different one each book. And these characters are close, so we get to see all of them pretty frequently!

These are short stories, so there's no real developments, but it's so great to be with these characters! Hope and Karl having another child and dealing with his need for adventure. Eve and Clay dealing with the situation that Morgan found himself in. Eve hating the political angel crap, Jaime dealing with two dead assholes, Paige and Lucas having a case draw them apart. So great to read!

Really fantastic stories, and I just absolutely lvoed reading them!
